Lash Mapping

Lash mapping makes your life a lot easier when it comes to providing your clients with styled lash sets. Lash maps will vary depending on the look you are hoping to achieve and how you can best produce the most flattering look for your client.

To learn how to design your lash map please visit the Eye Styling section.

Once you have an idea of the kind of look you are hoping to create there are several ways that you can set up your lash map.

On the Eyelid

This is probably the most effective way to help you know where you should be placing your lash lengths. Looking face on with your client you are able to mark exact positioning. You are able to see where the centre of the eye is, where the pupil sits and also the ideal point where you want your set to end. Using an eyeliner you can just mark on your points. It is a little difficult to mark every transition point but just marking on your emphasis point will help you with symmetry and application. Then when you apply your pads you can use these marks to add more detail.

Dots, Sections and Colour Coding

So now you have your lash pads in place and you want to add more detail to really help you get your styling perfect.

My preferred way of mapping out on the pad is just to use dots to mark on where I will be transitioning my lengths. You can have your lash map card beside you as a reference for what lengths you will be using if you need it.

If you need a little more guidance than just having dots then you can split your lashpad into sections and put the lengths in also. The only problem with doing it this way is that the labelling can get quite crowded, especially if you are mixing up curls and diameters.

This is where the colour coding can come in handy. You will need to allocate a specific length a certain colour and then you can draw in the sections without taking up to much space.
