Finding the best Eyelash Extension Technicians

Lash Artists you can trust

LILA is a community for dedicated lash technicians with a passion for lashing and a desire to be at the top of their game. Choosing a lash technician that is part of this community is choosing someone that commits to continuing professional development and maintaining the highest possible standards.

Eyelash extensions are perfectly safe for the natural lashes but only when done properly so it is crucial that you find a technician that knows exactly what the natural lash can and can't support. Applying lashes that are too heavy or too long or using too much adhesive can cause discomfort, snapping and premature loss of the natural lash.

An educated technician will be able to advise you on the best length and diameter and also give you styling advice to create the most flattering effect for your face shape. When choosing your tech, the deciding factor should be skill and knowledge over price. A professional who can give you phenomenal set of lashes and has your best interests at heart.

Choosing a Lash Tech......

You're looking for a beautiful set of eyelash extensions but how to know who to choose? Many people make the mistake of choosing short over long term benefits. You may be able to find someone that can give you dense, long, thick lashes in minimal time and all at a bargain price. These will look great to start but if not applied correctly you can experience discomfort, increased chance of reaction and expect damaged natural lashes at the end of it.

Professional lash technicians that invest in their education and skill set will generally charge a premium for their services. This is not to say that you can't find a good lash technician with lower charges nor that the most expensive techs are the most skilled. It is just that price is generally a good indicator of the standard of service you will receive.

However, price is not the only thing you should be looking at. You need to see their work. Many technicians use stock photos in their advertising and while not necessarily a terrible thing, if there are no pictures of their own work then that should worry you. Unfortunately there are also lash technicians that steal images from others. The best way to find out if someones images are genuine is to look at their Facebook Business page and look at the feedback they get.

You can also get an idea of their skill level from their Facebook/ Google reviews. If they have a lot of good reviews then you're probably on to a winner. Pay some attention to negative reviews but if there are not many then don't put too much stock in them. Even the best businesses get bad reviews.

Book yourself in a consultation. A professional tech will want to see you and discuss the service with you beforehand (and likely carry out a patch test). Eyelash Extensions are not a one size fits all kind of service. Your lash artist will be able to advise what lash extensions are suitable for you and what styling they would recommend.

Choosing your lash artist:

  • Research. Don't be tempted to go for the cheapest option. Buy cheap, buy twice!

  • See before and afters of their work (no stock photos)

  • Check Facebook/ Google reviews

  • Look at the interactions on their Facebook page (happy clients?)

  • Recommendations and styling advice. A good lash artist will try to give you what you want but won't give it to you if it will damage your natural lashes.

Find yourself a lash artist you can trust and may you have many happy years together!
